December 2, 2017

Sylvain Boyer, a french graphic designer, had a simple idea : tweak logos from famous brand to strip away any unnecessary use of ink.

Here is some preview of what famous brand logos could look like :

New brand logos with less ink

The aim of this project is clearly to preserve nature, while keeping brand aesthetics. Also, it could represent big savings form brand.

The changes, even subtle, would impact billions of packaging, flyers and product : eco-branding could be a huge !

Ecological, economic and aesthetic, what could we ask more ?

The subject of less ink isn't new, with font like Ryman Eco and EcoFont creating their own eco-typewriting.

Some research even indicate that the US government could save $400 million a year by switching from the typeface Times New Roman to the less ink-intensive Garamond.

Anyway, Boyer has started a campaign called "Ecobranding" with examples, methods and help to reduce your logo's amount of ink.
